Research Interest: Identifying nursing care intensity is essential to support nursing decisions and to adopt better patient care strategies. The increased nursing care intensity may be associated with patients’ clinical complications, such as readmission within 30 days of discharge from the unit. This study aims to identify the intensity of vascular patients' postoperative nursing care and its association with readmissions within 30 days of discharge. This prospective cohort study was conducted in two equivalent vascular surgery units in Brazil and Canada (Quebec). All patients aged 18 years or older who were hospitalized in the postoperative period following vascular surgery in October and November 2025 were included. The Nursing Activities Score (NAS) instrument measured the intensity of nursing care. A logistic regression analysis was performed to assess the prediction of NAS for readmission within 30 days of discharge from the units. The significance level was 5%. As a result, 200 patients were included; the majority were men, having an aortobifemoral bypass, and pain was the most frequent post operatory event. The results of this study could help to identify the intensity of nursing care required by patients following vascular surgery and identify the clinical factors associated with the increased care requirements and readmissions in the units. This study allows to improve patient outcomes and support nursing care management. This innovative project will determine the specific care needs of patients in both countries. The study will thus make an important contribution to nursing practice, patient outcomes, and public health in both countries, with the internationalization of nursing research.
